June Theme — Vitality from the centre

A month to remember your source of strength — and return to it again and again.

As summer approaches its height, there’s a noticeable shift in the quality of light and in the way life begins to pulse more brightly. The sun lingers a little longer, the earth ripens, and everywhere we look, there are small, vibrant expressions of energy reaching outward, not from force, but from nourishment.

This is the kind of vitality I want to explore this month. Not a peak state to chase or maintain, but something that naturally arises when we’re moving in alignment with ourselves — when there is clarity, connection, and a return to what truly sustains us. Vitality, in this sense, isn’t loud or performative. It begins in the quiet recognition of what supports us from within.

Our practice this month is anchored in the centre — in the body’s deep core, yes, but also in the less tangible sense of centre: the place from which we act, respond, breathe, and create. Think embracing how movement always flows in waves from the centre to the periphery and back again, amplifying an earlier developmental movement pattern the expanding/condensing motion of the breath.

We will build foundational awareness of the core — not just the abdominal muscles, but the deep centre of gravity and energy in the body. We will find slow, deliberate transitions, foundational core activations, twisting from a place of grounding and stability, ujjayi breath to link breath and inner strength. I am hoping to facilitate a calm, attentive return to where strength begins. This week is less about effort and more about noticing — “Where does movement start from?”

This practice asks us to become more curious — to pay attention to the kinds of thoughts, beliefs, and energies we are feeding, often unconsciously. To notice when we’re moving from habit or tension, and when we’re moving from something deeper and steadier.

As we move through June, we’ll explore this through core-focused movement, intentional breathwork, and a rhythm that balances strength with sensitivity. We’ll challenge ourselves to stay connected — not just to our muscles, but to the breath and intuition that guide them. We’ll allow space for stillness, reflection, and the kind of quiet that reminds us: vitality can be a steady flame, not just a wild spark.
